Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Oscar Gloukh in recent months and speculation is starting to swirl again ahead of the January transfer window.
According to 90Min, Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs who have sent scouts to watch the Red Bull Salzburg star in action in recent times.
Earlier this month, Tottenham reportedly had representatives present at the Austrian Bundesliga match between Salzburg and Tyrol, which the league leaders won 2-0.
Spurs were apparently monitoring Gloukh, Karim Konate and Lucas Gourna-Douath.
Arsenal scouts were also reportedly present at the match. With James Maddison currently on the sidelines, Tottenham may be looking to strengthen their position at number 10. They have had a difficult time in his absence.
Gloukh would be a great shout for the Spurs. At just 19 years old he already seems too fit for the Austrian Bundesliga.
A big step awaits us next year. The Israel international joined Salzburg from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January this year for a fee of £6million.
To date, Gloukh has played 37 matches for his club, scoring six goals and six assists. This season, he has four goals and four assists in 20 appearances.
Tottenham eyes playmaker with ‘extremely unique and complete profile’
According to Ron Dor of RDScouting via Football Talent Scout, Gloukh is “a pure playmaker who excels at playing an “8”, a “10” or a winger.
“At 170cm tall, he has a low center of gravity which contributes to his balance and changes of direction, he is technically gifted and quite agile.
» “Unlike other Israeli talents, he has an extremely unique and well-rounded profile that seems suited to top-level football.”
As for the price, it’s hard to say. As a standard figure, Transfermarkt gave a valuation of €10m (around £8.6m), but Salzburg will likely want to make a significant profit on him.
On the bright side, the club’s business model is all about selling top talent, so Tottenham shouldn’t have much trouble signing him if they relax their financial resources.
