Spurs players and staff, including Ange Postecoglou, arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of this afternoon’s match against Sheffield United.
Spurs are undefeated and sit second in the Premier League table. Today’s win looks crucial with important clashes against Arsenal and Liverpool this month.
The feeling of well-being returned for many fans after tasting the exciting football of Ange Postecoglou.
Today’s match was their second home game following their impressive 2-0 win over Manchester United.
The Lilywhites had won seven consecutive top-flight matches against newly promoted sides until losing 3-2 to Bournemouth in their last such home game in April.
Can Spurs continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League? Spurs have scored two or more goals in each of their best four games under Postecoglou.
If they do it again today, the Australian would be the first Premier League manager since Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea in 2018 to achieve this feat in his first five matches in the competition.
Players seen arriving on the N17 included Alejo Veliz, Heung-min Son and Ben Davies.
Tottenham’s £30m star is Arsenal’s ‘chosen one’ as Arteta picks him to ‘replace’ Juve-linked star
According to reports, Arsenal are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma as he looks to replace Thomas Partey.
Spurs fended off competition by signing Bissouma from Brighton last year in a deal worth around £30 million.
The central midfielder had a nightmare debut season for Tottenham but has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season under Ange Postecoglou.
His recent resurgence has seemingly caught the attention of Tottenham’s Premier League rivals, with Arsenal reportedly planning a bold attack on their local foes.
Spanish newspaper Fichajes reports that Bissouma is “Arsenal’s chosen man to replace Partey”.
Bissouma has been described as Mikel Arteta’s “big favourite” to strengthen Arsenal’s midfield and wants the club’s hierarchy to “launch an offensive” to snatch him away from their rivals.
Manchester United and Milan are also mentioned in the report as potential destinations for Bissouma, but Arsenal are ‘willing’ to make a ‘big offer’ to sign the talented midfielder.
The Gunners were linked with Bissouma before he signed for Spurs but this should be taken with a grain of salt as Daniel Levy is unlikely to let one of his best players join their north London rivals.
Arsenal expert Charles Watts has told TEAMtalk that he cannot see Partey leaving the club in January.
“Juventus were definitely interested, but I was always told that Partey didn’t want to leave Arsenal,” Watts told TEAMtalk.
“During all the Saudi Arabia games, even the Juventus ones, I was always told that he came to Arsenal to get to the Champions League and now that they are there, he wants to play for Arsenal in the Champions League and the Champions League.”
“He really wanted to do this. Despite all the rumors and speculation, he had no interest in moving and I hope he continues to do so now.
“At the end of the season he would only have one year left on his contract and if a very good offer were presented to him, he will be 31 next summer, it would make sense for them to consider it. He is not a player they are trying to eliminate by any means necessary.
“I don’t see January as a possibility. You would significantly weaken your roster in the middle of the season. He was definitely on Juventus’ list this summer, so I’m sure he’s still there.
“I’m not surprised that Paul Pogba has left, that they will pay more attention to someone like Partey, but I can’t imagine any situation where Arsenal would consider letting him go in the middle of the season.”
