Sean Dyche wants to bring Andre Gomes back to the Everton team.
Accordingto the Daily Mail, the Toffees manager will look to reinstate the midfielder into his squad after he failed to earn a move this summer.
Gomes joined Everton from Barcelona on a permanent contract in 2019 and has had an on-and-off career in the Premier League since then.
The former Portugal international has 100 Everton appearances under his belt, but his spell on Merseyside has been cut short by a serious injury, poor form and a fall in the pecking order of several managers.
Gomes scored three goals and made two assists in 26 games while on loan at Lille last season, with the French club keen to bring him back permanently if his wages were unavailable.
The “excellent” 30-year-old was desperate to leave Everton after September 1, with Fenerbahce the only club willing to sign him before yesterday’s deadline.
However, Gomes still remains on Mersey side and Dyche is now keen to use him and bring him back into the team.Should Andre Gomes return to the Everton squad?
The midfielder is believed to be the Toffees’ highest-earning player, earning around £112,000 a week.
Everton are now forced to continue paying his wages until at least January, so Dyche knows he can’t afford to waste it in the reserves.
Further more, the Premier League club still lacks adequate squad strength after a lackluster transfer window and failed to replace Alex Iwobi following his move to Fulham.
Gomes will offer Everton another option in the middle and the two sides will have to mend their relationship if they want to make it work for at least the next three or four months.
