NEWS UPDATE : Former Coventry City manager named as Rangers’ new manager

Philippe Clement, a former midfielder for Coventry City, has been named Rangers’ manager.

The 49-year-old replaces Michael Beale, who was fired earlier this month.

He has previously managed Monaco and Club Bruges.

A three and a half year contract has been signed by him.

Gordon Strachan acquired Clement from Genk in 1998, and he appeared 16 times for the Sky Blues, including 12 Premier League games.

When he shattered a cheekbone during a preseason friendly, he had a bad start.

He consequently had to wait until mid-September to make his League Cup debut against Southend and until Halloween to make his Premier League debut against Arsenal at home.

Later, he participated in more than 250 games with Club Bruges and was awarded 38 caps.

He said that over the course of 10 days, a team led by chief executive James Bisgrove, board members, and former Rangers player and manager Graeme Souness examined “several high-calibre candidates” as part of the “carefully planned and comprehensive recruitment process.”

According to reports, the Scottish Premiership team had narrowed down their shortlist to Clement and Kevin Muscat, the head coach of the Yokohama F Marinos and a former Rangers defender.

According to reports, the Scottish Premiership club had narrowed down their short list to Clement and the head coach of Yokohama F Marinos.

Clement was named the 19th manager of Rangers, and Bennett cited the Belgian’s “track record of winning titles” (including winning his domestic league trophy three seasons in a row).

Clement stated on the Rangers website that he is “hugely excited by this chance to achieve success at one of Europe’s most iconic clubs.”.

According to Rangers, the “new management team” will first meet the playing group on Monday as they get ready for Hibernian’s visit on Saturday, which will start their task of eradicating Celtic’s seven-point lead.
