NEWS UPDATE : The odd football career of Luis Binks and Coventry City’s enduring popularity

On the day of the transfer deadline, Coventry City acquired Liam Kitching from Barnsley for a sizable £4.5million transfer fee, and Luis Binks might have felt that he had made a grave error.

As he waited patiently on the bench for a chance to shine other than in an EFL Cup loss at AFC Wimbledon, Binks hadn’t even swung a Championship ball in anger at that point.

He must have been confused as to why a left-sided center-back was being directly competed with by another new signing.

To be fair, the club told me when I signed that they were looking for another left-sided center-back regardless of whether I signed or not, so they would always be looking for another one,” said the 22-year-old defender, who began his career at Tottenham and already sees a long-term future for himself with the Sky Blues.
