Piers Morgan reiterates Mikel Arteta’s ‘humiliation’ remark following Tottenham’s tie

Mikel Arteta made another brave decision when it came to Aaron Ramsdale’s place at Arsenal against Tottenham with Gunners fan Piers Morgan having given his views on the situation

Piers Morgan has once again criticized Mikel Arteta for “humiliating” Aaron Ramsdale with the signing of David Raya.

The former Sheffield United and Bournemouth star has seen himself fall down Arsenal’s pecking order in recent weeks.

He started the last three games on the bench in place of Raya: the Spaniard now seems to be Arteta’s number one.

Ramsdale look set to return to the starting lineup in midweek when the Gunners clash with Raya’s parent club Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Despite this, Arsenal fan Morgan said the situation is embarrassing with Ramsdale’s involvement, also suggesting that Raya is not a better goalkeeper. On X, former Twitter, he wrote: “I don’t like the goalkeeper situation.

I don’t think that’s right and I don’t know what the thinking is. Arteta said he would rotate them but he didn’t.

“Raya made a great save against Spurs but he missed the first goal. I looked at Ramsdale and he applauded him for the save, but I don’t understand why he was demoted and humiliated like this. “Arteta needs to make a decision on who the No.1 is and will stick to it.

This is not good for defenders. I think Raya is very good but I don’t think it’s a big improvement on Ramsdale who was a key player last season.

Morgan previously spoke out against Arteta after making the initial decision to offload Ramsdale for Raya in the 1-0 win over Everton, saying he had “humiliated” the former Sheffield United and Bournemouth keeper.

He is not the only one worried about the current situation of Arsenal’s goalkeepers.

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has claimed Ramsdale could be forced to look for a new club if he fails to get back into contention. Aaron Ramsdale was left out of the squad again against Tottenham

Who do you think he should be Arsenal’s number one?

Share your thoughts in the comments below He told Sky Sports: “I think [Ramsdale] will leave in January if he gets the chance at a decent club and Arsenal would be happy with that.

He didn’t hurt Arsenal. He did very well and better than many thought.“I think Arsenal will look at him and think they can get some euros for him. It could be something that happens in January.

Ramsdale’s replacement Raya, 28, has made three appearances for Arsenal so far, keeping clean sheets against PSV Eind hoven and Everton.

Ramsdale has kept one clean sheet in his five appearances in all competitions for the Gunners so far this season.

The four-time England goalkeeper has three years left on the new contract he only signed in August, with the option of a further season.
