Erling Haaland is aiming for the next score record.

Erling Haaland is fast approaching 50 Premier League goals.
The current record for the fewest amount of games is 65. Man City’s star might achieve the goal milestone against Manchester United.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland scored his 44th Premier League goal against Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium over the weekend.

Since his arrival in English football last summer, Haaland has had unparalleled success, scoring 36 goals in the Premier League in 2022/23 to create a new single-season scoring record in the post-1992 period.

Overall, the Norwegian scored 52 goals in all competitions, breaking City’s club record of 38 goals in a single season set by Tommy Johnson in 1928/29.

Haaland has eight Premier League goals in six games so far in 2023/24. He is the overwhelming favorite to win the Golden Boot again and, on present form, is on track to break his own record of 36 goals in the division last season.

The next Premier League goal milestone on Haaland’s radar is 50. That is not noteworthy in and of itself, since 123 Premier League players have scored 50 goals or more, including Danny Murphy (50), Andrew Johnson (51), Trevor Sinclair (52), Steven Fletcher (53) and Andy Carroll (54). As many as 34 players have scored 100 goals or more, with ten reaching 150.

The rate at which Haaland is approaching 50 goals is astonishing. Given his prolific scoring rate, he might easily score his 50th Premier League goal in the coming weeks, becoming the fastest to do so by a long shot, possibly in 20 less games than the existing record.

Andrew Cole now holds the record for the fewest amount of games played to score 50 Premier League goals, having done so in 65 games while at Newcastle and Manchester United.

That is somewhat faster than Alan Shearer, who scored his first 50 Premier League goals in 66 games for Blackburn.

Ruud van Nistelrooy did it in 68 games for Manchester United, while Fernando Torres and Mohamed Salah each took 72 games for Liverpool.

Haaland’s first 44 goals came in just 41 games, for an average of 1.07 goals per game. If he continues at this rate, he will reach 50 goals in his 45th Premier League game.

If he continues to play every league match, his 45th appearance will be the upcoming Manchester derby at Old Trafford on October 29.

Even if it does not happen exactly so quickly, it is impossible that Haaland will not break the 50-goal speed record at some time due to how far ahead of the competition he is.
