Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham dominate Santiago Gimenez

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are among the top clubs constantly monitoring 22-year-old Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

According to 90min, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, among others, are interested in signing Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

The London trio had scouts on hand to watch the Mexican striker in action during their club’s match against Ajax and returned with glowing reports.

A heated clash between Ajax and Feyenoord at the Johan Cruyff Arena lasted just 56 minutes before authorities suspended the match.

Incidents with fans behind the scenes proved problematic for the remainder of the match, which featured some of the Eredivisie’s most famous players.

As Feyenoord completely dominated the action at Ajax Amsterdam’s stadium, they managed six shots on goal out of a total of seven.

The Eredivisie champions also scored three goals, including a brace from Santiago Gimenez.

The 22-year-old striker has attracted media attention due to his growing stature.

The young player was observed by many scouts during the game.

Three of London’s best-known teams, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, had people there to test the Mexican style and they came back with glowing reports.

These three London sides have been linked with a new striker ahead of the January window and could just as easily make a move for the Feyenoord star.

Gimenez was linked with Chelsea in the summer and the Blues now have the company of local rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

Chelsea and Arsenal remain linked with Ivan Toney and it could look like the Brentford star is their priority target.

If the Bees continue to demand a high price, well above the striker’s actual valuation, there is a good chance these clubs will look for alternatives.

The Blues need a decent presence up front and a goalscorer in their ranks.

Chelsea lost their third game of the season when they were beaten by Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge despite their goal tally this season being dismal.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have many attacking options but lack a player with a different profile.

Someone like Toney or Gimenez could fill that void, but things will depend on the price tag set for those players.

As for Tottenham, they are yet to adequately replace Harry Kane since his departure and could therefore consider the 22-year-old Mexican for their progressive squad.

Son Heung-min isn’t getting any younger and Richarlison’s numbers have been inconsistent since his move to Tottenham.

Therefore, someone like Gimenez would make sense from a team perspective as the Mexican promises to add plenty of goals to his game.

So, if Feyenoord prove willing to consider offers for their striker, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham could join the ranks of top clubs chasing the 22-year-old.

The striker could also consider taking the plunge and making a big career leap.
