So Sad: 5 Key Broncos Players Suspended Ahead of Match Against Bulldogs

The Brisbane Broncos are facing a crisis as five key players have been suspended ahead of their crucial match against the Canterbury Bulldogs. This news comes on the heels of Payne Haas’s injury woes, the benching of Damien Cook, and the axing of Jackson Hastings amid halves chaos.

Broncos’ Turmoil Deepens

The Broncos have already been grappling with significant challenges, with star prop Payne Haas sidelined due to a knee injury that could see him out for up to six weeks. Coach Kevin Walters confirmed Haas’s absence, stating, “He still has some problems with his knee, so we will get the doctor to look at it and see how we go. We always have our players’ welfare first and foremost.”

In addition to Haas’s injury, the Broncos have now lost five key players to suspension, further complicating their lineup against the Bulldogs. The specifics of the suspensions have not been disclosed, but the impact on the team’s performance is expected to be substantial.

 Key Changes Across the NRL

The Broncos’ turmoil is not an isolated incident, as several teams are making significant changes in response to injuries and underperformance. Damien Cook has been benched at South Sydney, with Siliva Havili potentially starting at hooker. Meanwhile, Jackson Hastings has been dropped by Newcastle in favor of Jack Cogger, who will step into the seven jumper against Melbourne.

Knights coach Adam O’Brien addressed rumors about Hastings missing training, clarifying that he had given Hastings the day off to process his benching. “It was my call to give Jackson the rest of the day off,” said O’Brien. “He was disappointed, but that’s because he cares about his team and his performance.”

Storm and Souths Adjustments

The Melbourne Storm will be without their main playmakers as Jahrome Hughes is suspended and Cameron Munster has not recovered from injury. This will be the first time since Round 11 of 2021 that the Storm have had neither Hughes nor Munster in their lineup.

For South Sydney, Luke Keary has been replaced by Sandon Smith after suffering a concussion. Angus Crichton has been recalled, with Siua Wong moved to the reserves. Jack Wighton will make his Rabbitohs debut at left center, while Jacob Host returns on an edge.

 Tigers and Other Team Changes

Benji Marshall has made changes to his starting lineup, replacing Jayden Sullivan with veteran Aiden Sezer. Justin Olam will also debut as the Tigers face the Sharks at Leichhardt Oval. The Sharks have replaced suspended forward Briton Nikora with Jack Williams in the second row, adding Billy Burns to the bench.

The Knights will be without winger Greg Marzhew, who is out with a wrist injury, although Enari Tuala returns from injury.
