Micky van de Ven has labeled Cristian Romero a “great” defender and admitted he would like to play alongside him for Tottenham Hotspur.
Van de Ven spoke to Football,London and discussed his burgeoning partnership with Romero.
The22-year-old has made a good start at Tottenham after moving to north London from Wolfsburg this summer.
CristianRomero has also had a brilliant start to the season alongside the Dutchman, after a mixed season last time out.The duo appear to have built a promising partnership and it’s fair to say that Van de Ven is enjoying playing alongside Romero.
In conversation with Football.London, Van de Ven was asked about his new partnership with the World Cup winner.“Yes, I think I know what Cuti’s qualities are and Cuti knows what my qualities are and we know what we expect from each other,” he said.“So I have his back and he has mine.
From what you see on the pitch he is a great player.“Defensively, with the ball, he’s just a great player and I’m there to help him. “I know that when I run in this direction, Cuti has my back because he is always there.
We just feel and it’s obviously great to have that as a central defender duo.Romero has proven to be an excellent defender, especially for Argentina.
The25-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Tottenham in his first season under Antonio Conte. However, last time out he showed frustration and did not have a suitable defensive partner.
Vande Ven seems to complement Romero’s game perfectly and the duo brings out the best in each other.
