Gary Neville tells us what really shocked him about Tottenham

Gary Neville has admitted he was surprised by Tottenham Hotspur’s performance in yesterday’s north London derby.

Speaking on his podcast after Tottenham’s 2-2 win at the Emirates Stadium, Neville said he was “pleasantly surprised” after the match.

Yesterday Tottenham twice fought from behind to take a deserved point at Arsenal.

Son Heung-min played for Spurs that day as the South Korean star continued his excellent form with a brace in the derby.

It was undoubtedly Tottenham’s toughest test of the season so far, but it’s fair to say that Ange Postecoglou’s men will have surprised some with their performance.

In his podcast, Marcel admitted he thought the difference in quality between Arsenal and Spurs yesterday would have been “too big”.

But the Manchester United legend praised Spurs for putting in a spirited performance.

“I’ll be honest, I thought Arsenal were going to win before today’s game,” Neville said. “I thought Arsenal would win this match.

“I thought they would win quite comfortably, I thought the difference in quality would be too great and I thought we would see the old Spurs a bit again, but when things get really tough we will see them overwhelmed and we did too.” not done.

“So, I’m pleasantly surprised to find myself sitting here tonight. I’m not rewriting history, I didn’t say that before the match. But the reality is that I felt the same way.
