Ange Postecoglou insists on former Premier League star

Former Premier League star Pat Nevin has sung the praises of Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou and insisted good footballers are responding to the Australian’s approach.

Postecoglou has received praise for his on-court style, commonly called “Ange ball” .Nevin admits there was so

me surprise in Scotland, due to Postecoglou’s time at Celtic, that he wasn’t well liked when he took the job at Tottenham.

The former winger also believes the Tottenham manager’s methods are ones that good players can follow, citing the form of midfielder Yves Bissouma, who has started working with the Australian.

“There are a lot of clubs that needed Ange Postecoglou,” Nevin told the BBC’s Football Daily, discussing Postecoglou’s influence on Spurs.

“We were surprised, in Scotland we were very surprised that it took us a while to realize how impressive it really is.“It might not work for the rest of the season, but you’ll enjoy watching it for the rest of the season.

“I’ll tell you a lot of reasons why it worked.“There are many teams that play on the front line, but not like Ange-Ball.

This is a different game, it’s stunning to watch, it’s amazing, it’s exciting and it’s always at the forefront. “It’s the simplest thing in the world, no matter who you are.

See if you don’t do it the way he wants you to do it, then you’re out, period.“He doesn’t care about personalities.

You look at the way he mentioned Bissouma and suddenly he’s a great player for him.“It doesn’t matter how old you are, it doesn’t matter what your name is, it doesn’t matter you.

“If you want to do it my way, if you want to keep working at it, you’re on the team and I don’t care who your name is and what your story is.”You know what?

Good soccer players know this and respond well.”Spurs face arch-rivals Arsenal on Sunday and it remains to be seen whether Mikel Arteta’s side will be humiliated by the Australian manager’s tactics.
