Including a buy-back clause in Harry Kane’s deal with Bayern Munich was a “no-brainer” for Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton did not rule out a sensational return for Kane and claimed the striker will break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano (19 September), president Daniel Levy has confirmed that the Lilywhites have a buy-back clause for the 30-year-old following his move to Bayern earlier this summer.
Levy stressed that the England international will “always be welcome” at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium.
Kane spent more than a decade in north London, where he scored 278 goals for the club, including 213 in the Premier League, putting him 47 behind Alan Shearer’s record.
Asked what he thought of the clause, Hutton told Football Insider: “Well played.
“It will be interesting to see what the buyback clause is, how much it’s worth, when it comes into effect, because all these provisions could be added to it.
“I think from Tottenham and Daniel Levy’s point of view it was a no-brainer.
He’s a legend at the club, why wouldn’t he want to come back sooner or later? Especially if you still feel quite fit.
Could he still come back and break Alan Shearer’s record with the team he loves?
“I think it would be great if he came back and finished his career at Tottenham. I think the fans would appreciate it as long as he still has the will to play at a high level.”
Tottenham Hotspur fans said they should appreciate the 26-year-old player more
Paul Merson has praised Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, pointing out that he goes under the radar due to James Maddison’s form.
Guglielmo Vicario joined Tottenham Hotspur from Empoli in the summer transfer window.
Vicario has established himself as Tottenham’s number one goalkeeper.
The England attacking midfielder has made a good start for Tottenham and has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season. The 26-year-old playmaker has scored two goals and provided two assists in five Premier League games for Spurs this season.
Praise for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario
Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Merson said Tottenham fans should appreciate 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper Vicario more.
Merson wrote on SportsKeeda: “Earlier this month, Burnley had 16 shots against Tottenham and scored two goals despite a 5-2 defeat.
“If Spurs adopted a similar style of football against Arsenal, I’m afraid to say it wouldn’t end well for them.
“Guglielmo Vicario deserves a chance because he comes in between the sticks for Tottenham. I’d say he’s gone a bit under the radar given that James Maddison stole the show at the start of the season.”
Guglielmo Vicario will be very important for Tottenham-Arsenal
We believe Guglielmo Vicario will be a great player for Tottenham Hotspur against Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend.
Arsenal have a very good attacking unit and we expect the Gunners to have a lot of shots at Tottenham’s goal.
Vicario must face this situation.
As Merson notes, Vicario has had excellent performances for Spurs so far this season and is a safe pairing.
Tottenham fans will be hoping the 26-year-old Italian star shows his style in the north London derby against Arsenal.
