The standout athlete from Ball High School has quickly made a name for himself, distinguishing himself not only as a five-star safety committed to the University of Texas but also as a promising baseball player—ranked No. 41 in the 2025 MLB Draft by expert Joe Doyle from Future Star Series. At 6 feet 3 inches and 206 pounds, Williams has showcased his versatility by excelling in basketball and track, although he has shifted his focus primarily to football and baseball in recent times.
While many high school athletes typically specialize in one particular sport, Williams embodies a genuine passion for both football and baseball, making his decision to pursue dual athletics a natural one. “You only live for so long,” Williams stated. “Just the love of the game that I have for both sports has led me to keep playing and pursuing both.”
On the football field, Williams is likely capable of playing linebacker at the collegiate level. However, it’s in baseball where he really shines—able to touch 95 mph as a pitcher and renowned as one of Texas’ top high school sluggers.
Though football is Williams’ primary avenue for recruitment, interest from college baseball programs has also surged, eager to secure a position for him on the diamond. Williams is set to continue his dual-sport journey with the Longhorns in Austin, where he officially committed on August 24.
“It was really thinking beyond football,” Williams reflected. “The University of Texas education is great, and the lifelong relationships you build are invaluable. Football isn’t forever, so having a backup plan is essential. The combination of the football program and life after football was too significant to pass up.”
As he embarks on his senior year, Williams hasn’t allowed his burgeoning popularity to hinder his performance. Instead, he has assumed a more prominent leadership role within his team, contributing to Ball High School’s undefeated 5-0 record so far this season. With Galveston being home to a tight-knit public high school community, Williams’s influence has been a driving force.
“His athletic ability is obvious,” noted Ball High School head coach Sheldon Bennight. “He prioritizes his team above all else, which is incredibly meaningful to his teammates. That speaks volumes about his impact.”
In a community of over 50,000, where high school football holds immense significance, the people of Galveston have consistently rallied behind Williams throughout his journey. “The support means everything to me,” Williams said. “It’s heartening to know that the people around you are there to back you up, not just in sports, but in school as well.”
As Williams aims to guide his team toward a district championship and a deep playoff run in his final high school season, questions remain about his future beyond that. With the potential to pursue professional opportunities in both sports, the road ahead is filled with possibilities.
