Alpecin-Deceuninck Adds Six New Riders to WorldTour Roster for 2025 Season…

Alpecin-Deceuninck, known for its strategic and selective approach in the transfer market, has unveiled a major announcement with the addition of six new talents to its WorldTour team for the 2025 season. With established stars like Mathieu van der Poel and Jasper Philipsen, the Belgian team has reinforced its depth without overhauling its lineup.

Key Signings:

Johan Price-Pejtersen: Leading the new arrivals is three-time U23 world time trial champion Johan Price-Pejtersen. The 25-year-old Dane, previously with Bahrain, seeks a fresh start with Alpecin-Deceuninck after a challenging few years, including his disqualification from the Danish ITT championships. “Alpecin-Deceuninck has a winning culture that aligns with my aspirations,” Price-Pejtersen remarked, optimistic about his future in the new team.

Gal Glivar: Slovenian rider Gal Glivar joins from UAE Team Gen Z. Known for his ability on short, explosive climbs and sprint finishes, Glivar aims to prove himself on the WorldTour stage. “My short-term goal is a smooth transition into the WorldTour, and I look forward to competing in the Tour de France,” Glivar shared.

Promising Talent from Alpecin’s Development Team:

The remaining new riders are promotions from Alpecin’s development squad, showcasing the team’s investment in young talent.

  • Tibor Del Grosso: U23 Cyclocross World Champion and standout road cyclist, Del Grosso is touted as a potential successor to Mathieu van der Poel, a versatile talent with an impressive campaign this year.
  • Simon Dehairs: With a name reminiscent of Alpecin’s main sponsor, this sprinter won five sprints in 2024, proving himself in podium finishes against professionals. Dubbed a possible heir to Jasper Philipsen or Tim Merlier, Dehairs bolsters Alpecin’s sprint lineup.
  • Emiel Verstrynge: Runner-up in the U23 Cyclocross World Championships, Verstrynge is a promising climber well-suited for hilly classics, bringing a much-needed edge for Alpecin in more challenging terrain.
  • Ramses Debruyne: Though less experienced, Debruyne is expected to support his more seasoned teammates while developing his skills on the WorldTour circuit.

Strengthening the Development Programme:

Beyond the WorldTour signings, Alpecin-Deceuninck added three riders to its development program, including Italian junior Stefano Viezzi, the Junior Cyclocross World Champion. Viezzi is expected to bring strength to the off-road program, and his potential on the road adds an exciting dimension.

With these fresh additions, Alpecin-Deceuninck aims to maintain its winning culture while grooming a new generation of talent, solidifying its position as a competitive force across cycling disciplines.
