Just In: Toby Sexton Rejects Plans to Play with Bulldogs Amid November Deadline, Talks Dream Team

As the November 1 deadline looms, the Canterbury Bulldogs have opened contract talks with halfback Toby Sexton, who will be free to negotiate with rival clubs. Despite his breakout season, Sexton has rejected early plans to stay with the Bulldogs, sparking rumors about a potential move to his “dream team.”

Sexton, who emerged as a key player in the Bulldogs’ run to the 2024 NRL Finals, began the year in the NSW Cup but quickly proved his worth. The 23-year-old played 16 matches, contributing 12 try assists, 14 points, and forcing 15 drop-outs, earning praise for his partnership with Matt Burton.

His manager, Tas Bartlett, confirmed informal talks with Bulldogs football boss Phil Gould, saying, “Toby has really found a home at the Dogs.” However, with other clubs reportedly eyeing him, Sexton remains non-committal ahead of the deadline.

The Bulldogs, linked with a shock move for Dragons’ captain Ben Hunt, could be reshaping their roster, leaving Sexton’s future uncertain.
