Patriots Star Matthew Judon Returns to Practice Despite Seeking New Contract - Newsweek

Matthew Judon was a popular and well-regarded player in the New England Patriots’ locker room. This sentiment is evident from the reactions of his former teammates to the news that Judon has reportedly been traded to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2025 third-round pick.

Several Patriots players, including Josh Uche, DeMario Douglas, Daniel Ekuale, Marcus Jones, Christian Gonzalez, and Davon Godchaux, took to social media to express their feelings about the trade. The prevailing sentiment among them was that Judon will be greatly missed by those still with the team.

“Brudda brudda. Appreciate everything! Dumb love,” Uche shared on an Instagram story.

Just two weeks prior, Godchaux, who recently secured a two-year contract extension worth up to $21 million, had strongly advocated for the Patriots to keep Judon. Judon had been in a public and sometimes contentious contract dispute with the team, seeking a pay raise as he was set to earn $6.5 million in the final year of his deal.

With 32 sacks accumulated over three seasons with the Patriots, Judon will now aim to secure the contract he desires with the Falcons, and Godchaux continues to support him.

“Go miss u 9! Go ball out in the A like I know u will,” Godchaux posted on X.

Although the Patriots and Falcons do not play each other this season, if Judon remains with Atlanta beyond this year, he will face New England at Gillette Stadium in 2025.
