Caitlin Clark Talks About Her Experiences Watching USA Basketball in the Olympics

Due to her absence from the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has seen a decline in media attention. Since her four-point performance in the WNBA All-Star Game on July 20, she has not participated in any competitive basketball games and will not do so until the Fever’s next match against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday.

Despite this, Clark has been following the Olympics closely. During an appearance on Saturday’s YES Network broadcast of the New York Yankees vs. Texas Rangers game, she shared her thoughts on the performances of both the women’s and men’s national teams.

“I keep up with the Olympics and really enjoy international basketball,” Clark said. “The men’s game is quite different from the NBA, and it’s not the same as the WNBA… Missing the Olympics motivates me to work harder.”

Clark’s exclusion from the U.S. Olympic team sparked debate, especially as her performance improved after the roster was announced.

“The U.S. women’s team is incredibly talented and dominant,” Clark noted. “They play for the gold medal tomorrow [Sunday], and I don’t see them having any issues winning… It definitely gives me something to strive for in 2028.”

Regarding the men’s team’s thrilling 95–91 semifinal victory over Serbia on Thursday, Clark expressed confidence in their success as well.

“I knew they’d come back and win,” Clark said. “LeBron (James) wasn’t going to let them lose. Steph Curry was phenomenal in that game. … I don’t think they’ll have any trouble with France.”
