For the twenty-fourth consecutive year, Villarejo de Salvanés will host its Agromadrid Popular Race, a significant event on the Madrid athletic calendar. The AgroMadrid 2024 5K will take place on September 15th, starting at 10:00 AM, with the historic complex of Villarejo de Salvanés serving as the start and finish line. This complex includes the castle and its walls, the church-fortress of San Andrés, and the Casa de la Tercia, all built by the Military Order of Santiago in the Middle Ages.
Featuring a 5000-meter circuit, this urban race offers an easy route and is known as one of the fastest in southeastern Madrid.
This year, the organizers will pay tribute to a true legend of national athletics, Jesús España Cobo. An Olympic-level long-distance runner and one of the most beloved and decorated Spanish athletes in history, España has won numerous medals in international championships. From 2002 to 2010, he collected five medals in European championships in the 3000 and 5000-meter events, including a gold medal in the 5000 meters at the 2006 European Championships in Göteborg, ahead of the legendary Mo Farah. The race is expected to attract 600 participants, with 400 in the main event and another 200 in the children’s categories.

Registrations will be free for promotional races (up to the sub-16 category), while the cost for others will be €8 for registrations in July and €10 for August and up to September 12 or until spots are filled. Registrations can be completed online here.
The event is organized by the Villarejo de Salvanés City Council and the Club Running Villarejo, ensuring quality and excellent treatment for the runners. The great Pedro Prieto and his collaborators are working hard to ensure that runners enjoy a morning filled with sport and happiness on September 15th.
