Club America top star set to leave

The six time Liga MX champion is set to switch Mexico for Saudi Arabia.

According to TUDN, Quiñones is expected to depart Club América after just one season in the capital.

Following the team’s victory in the 2024 Liga MX Clausura, the Colombian-born player stated, “I’m leaving, and I’m leaving happy because I fulfilled all the expectations. I met my individual and collective goals and contributed something to this institution that will be remembered for a lifetime.”

The report also mentions that Las Águilas received a $14 million offer from an unnamed Saudi club for Quiñones’ transfer.

Journalist César Luis Merlo recently updated that the club interested in signing the 27-year-old for the Saudi League is Al-Qadisiyah, which was recently promoted to the top division.

Quiñones’ departure will be a significant loss for the reigning champions. During his 52 games with the club, he made 33 goal contributions and scored crucial goals in the recent playoffs against Pachuca and Cruz Azul. While in the capital, he switched his international allegiance to Mexico and has been called up for the upcoming Copa América.
