Texans QB C.J. Stroud will not play Week 16 vs. Cleveland

Stroud, while still recovering from a concussion suffered two weeks ago against the New York Jets.

Hewill remain in the concussion protocol until next week and will not be available to play against the Cleveland Browns in their Week 16 game.

Coach DeMeco Ryans told the media that this concussion will not end Stroud’s season. WhileLast week, veteran quarterback Case Keenum took over for Stroud and led Houston to a 19-16 comeback win over the Tennessee Titans.

Keenum is expected to start against veteran Cleveland Browns QB Joe Flacco.

Houstonwill be without fellow rookie DE Will Anderson Jr.

(ankle), while LB Blake Cashman will also be sidelined with a hamstring injury. The bad news doesn’t end there as starting WR Nico Collins, LB Denzel Perryman and DT Maliek Collins are all questionable due to limited practice time on Thursday.

Houstonenters Week 16 at 8-6 and faces a Cleveland team with a one-game lead over them in the Wild Card race.

Houston also competes with the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars in a three-way battle for the AFC South lead.
