Sad news from Aston villa…

Tyrone Mings has started to update fans on his recovery from a sickening ACL tear that has left the Aston Villa man waiting patiently on the treatment table.

Mings left the field in tears on the opening day of the Premier League season as Villa were taken apart by Newcastle.

And the Englishman then sparked retirement fears when he uploaded a story to his Instagram page thanking fans for their support and promising an update.

While a fifth responded: “If you look at the career of Tyrone Mings you’d know he’s a fighter and there wasn’t anyway today’s announcement was a retirement!”

Speaking in the video, Mings said: “Thank you so much for all the messages people have sent me, I’ve read pretty much every single one. The cards, gifts in the post, the tweets, everything has been so appreciated and has helped me through this early stage.”

However, that update has turned out to be a behind the scenes look at his road to recovery.

Captioning the video, Mings said: “Can’t get rid of me that easy! You’re all helping me way more than you realise!”

“Come back stronger my hero,” one fan responded on social media. While a second replied: “Isn’t science amazing? 101 days from the ACL to where he is at now with recovery is mental!”

“Can’t believe how many of you were genuinely worried about retirement. This man is no quitter,” a third said. And another added: “Tell em, king. Gonna come back stronger!”

Mings added more footage will be released as he continued his recovery. In the meantime, his team-mates are coping well in the Premier League and Europa Conference League. Villa sit fifth after bouncing back from their drubbing at Newcastle, and next up on Sunday is a trip to fourth-placed Tottenham, who themselves are ravaged with injuries.
