Pundits Chris Sutton, Paul Merson and Robbie Savage have all delivered their predictions ahead of Nottingham Forest’s trip to the London Stadium.
Forest will be looking to build on their 2-0 win over Aston Villa when they face West Ham on Sunday (2pm). While they remain unbeaten at the City Ground, they have only won once in six games away from home.
That win came against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in September. Though the Hammers are winless in their last four league games, David Moyes’ side have been backed to return to winning ways.
Both Sutton and Savage predicted a 2-1 win for the hosts.
“It’s four league defeats in a row now for West Ham and they are falling away a bit after starting the season so well,” Sutton told BBC Sport. “I don’t think they have been playing that badly but David Moyes has been unhappy with the way they have conceded some of the goals that have cost them games.
“I actually have a feeling they will nick this one, though. Nottingham Forest’s away form is much improved and they will probably try to keep things tight, but West Ham will find a way to win it.”
Sutton’s prediction: West Ham 2-1 Nottingham Forest.
Meanwhile, Savage told teamTALK: “While their home form kept them up last season, since the start of last season no team has lost more games in the Premier League away from home than Nottingham Forest – 17. I think this will be 18, West Ham at home are good.
“I think they need to win under David Moyes. Therefore I think both teams will score but West Ham will win.”
Savage’s prediction: West Ham 2-1 Nottingham Forest.
Elsewhere, Merson believes Forest will not get a goal at the London Stadium. “West Ham United, at the moment, are on a bad run,” he told Sportskeeda.
“That’s quite weird given how formidable they were looking a few weeks ago. They’ve lost four of their last five matches in all competitions. But I’m going to go with the Hammers here despite their recent slump.
“They haven’t been able to snap out of the habit of losing games of late. But this one against Forest is a good fixture for them to get their campaign back on track. I still think the Hammers are playing well enough to win against Steve Cooper’s side.
“With Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez returning to the mix, they should be able to cruise to a comfortable win here.”
Merson’s prediction: West Ham 2-0 Nottingham Forest.
