Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has received praise from Jamie Carragher following the Spurs man’s return to action on Friday night.
The Tottenham midfielder took to the field in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, which left Tottenham five points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Bentancur was considered one of Spurs’ most influential players last season before suffering a cruciate ligament problem in February.
Now, 10 months later, the 26-year-old is finally back in action as he replaced Dejan Kulusevski in the final minutes of the match.
During the post-match celebrations, a few Tottenham players pushed the £19million man towards the Spurs fans outside to greet him.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher was delighted with Bentancur’s return to Spurs.
“It’s great to see Bentancur,” he said on the channel, as transcribed on the BBC Sport website.
“He was brilliant when he started at Tottenham and you can see the affection the fans have for him.
“If he can get close to his best again, it will definitely improve this Tottenham team.”
