Everton fans will be raging after official Premier League announcement ahead of West Ham clash

West Ham United will play host to Premier League strugglers Everton at the London Stadium this weekend.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be pleased with his side this season on the whole. However, performances like the one last weekend against Aston Villa will not be tolerated.

It was an incredibly poor display from every player aside from perhaps just three – Jarrod Bowen, Emerson Palmieri and Vladimir Coufal.

So bouncing back this weekend is obviously an absolute must. Everton need a result just as badly as we do. They are currently just three points clear of the relegation zone.

And it seems as though Sean Dyche’s side might really have their work cut-out at the London Stadium on Sunday…

The Premier League released the referee appointments for the match-week 10 fixtures today, and the Toffees will be gutted when they see who will be officiating the game, and who’s taking lead on VAR.

The referee on the day will be Stuart Attwell, whilst Simon Hooper will be taking charge of VAR.

Everton have some serious history with both officials. The Toffees contacted PGMOL over Attwell’s terrible performance during their defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in April 2022 (Daily Mail).

Then Everton boss Frank Lampard then proceeded to accuse Attwell of favouritism after the game.

Then we come to Simon Hooper. The 41-year-old was criticised heavily by Sean Dyche and Ashley Young after Everton’s defeat to Arsenal back in September, after he failed to award the home side a penalty and played only four minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match.

Hooper left the field of play to a chorus of boos directed at him from the home fans.

Everton definitely won’t be happy one little bit that both of those referees will be playing such a key part in officiating the game against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

Hopefully it ends up working in our favour. We’ve been on the wrong end of plenty of refereeing calls over the past few years. Maybe this time it will be our opponents who are cursing their luck though…
