Cleveland Browns’ QB Deshaun Watson expected to start against the Indianapolis Colts
Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns warms up before kickoff against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on September 18, 2023 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
ClevelandBrowns’ quarterback Deshaun Watson is expected to start Sunday when the Browns face the Indianapolis Colts.
Watson was officially listed as questionable on the team’s injury report Friday, and he will need to pass a pregame workout before coach Kevin Stefanski commits to naming him the starter.
“I want to see how he responds over the next 48 hours based on that full workload that he just got,” Stefanski told reporters Friday. “But he looked good today.”
Watson has missed the past two games with a strained rotator cuff in his right (throwing) shoulder. He was listed as a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday, throwing passes with his normal velocity.
Watson injured the shoulder on a designed run play during the Browns’ 27-win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. If Watson does play, it will end confusion and questions about his status while he was out.
Stefanski, Watson and general manager Andrew Berry all made conflicting statements regarding Watson’s health and availability during the past few weeks. That will be forgotten if Watson does return and leads the Browns to a win.
