Ange Postecoglou has done a fantastic job with the Tottenham team so far this season.
Almost all the players have improved enormously under the Australian’s guidance, but there is one who has not made the same progress as the others.Unfortunately we are talking about Richarlison.
The Brazilian has had his moments this season, but once again he has been very inconsistent and simply not good enough at times.
His mistake against Luton last time was embarrassing and he is not clinical enough to lead this line.
Craig Burley claimed on ESPN that Ange Postecoglou simply doesn’t like Richarlison, saying he wouldn’t be shocked if the Brazilian was sent off sooner rather than later.
The expert expressed his opinion on this situation.
“I think we will see this team slowly evolve during the international break.
There were a couple of stories they wanted to get rid of, mostly about Richarlison. I don’t think Postecoglou is convinced of him at all.
They signed Brennan Johnson, Heung-Min Son can play there. They will try to both draw players out and attract them.
“Obviously Richarlison is something of a bull in a china shop in the Premier League,” Burley said.
Burley assumes Postecoglou isn’t a fan of Richarlison, but honestly, we think it’s the exact opposite.
The Brazilian is clearly a player Postecoglou trusts.
He has played every league game so far this season and, although he hasn’t been brilliant, he has been given those opportunities.
Postecoglou is a loyal manager, sometimes to a fault, and while there are arguments for selling Richarlison, we don’t see the Spurs player putting the striker aside any time soon.
Micky van de Ven reveals why he joined Tottenham instead of Liverpool and Bayern
Tottenham News – Micky van de Ven proved to be a great signing for Ange Postecoglou and Spurs last summer.
Micky van de Ven marked a brilliant first month at Tottenham with his first goal for the club against Luton.
Micky van de Ven has revealed there was a clear reason why he decided to sign for Tottenham this summer amid interest from several European teams.
The Netherlands international, who made his debut for his country earlier this month, has slotted seamlessly into Ange Postecoglou’s side alongside Cristian Romero, with the defender scoring his first goal for the club before the international break of October against Luton Town.
With Spurs down to ten men, van de Ven scored the winner early in the second half before helping to secure a clean sheet which naturally earned him Man of the Match.
Speaking to TNT Sport after the match, he commented on his first goal for Spurs and the brilliant conversation he had with club captain Son Heung-min before the match.
“It’s an incredible game, I think we showed great mentality as a team and I’m really happy to score my first goal in the Premier League and for Tottenham and the clean sheet is the best thing for defenders,” he said.
“I knew Maddison liked cuts, so I stood back and he played it perfectly to my left and I touched it, nice feeling.
“It was funny because when we were on the bus going to the stadium, Sonny said to me ‘we’ll score your first goal today’ and I said maybe who knows and I scored my first goal, perfect.”
While his offensive contributions came at the right time, it was his defensive acumen that impressed many.
His blistering recovery pace is a perfect asset because Postecoglou likes to use a high line.
Before the Lilywhites confirmed the completed £43m deal to sign Van de Ven, Liverpool and Bayern Munich were both interested in acquiring his services.
However, he ultimately decided to join Spurs from Wolfsburg, and the main reason has now been revealed.
“Thanks to the good conversations with Spurs,” he said in a recent interview. “For me, what the coach says is very important. ‘
If I played a lot, which is very important at my age, then I would have the best feeling at Spurs.’ Not only has Van de Ven impressed with his performances, but signing him has also aided Romero in his new responsibilities within the Spurs management group, with talkSPORT pundit Darren Ambrose making an important admission on the 22-year-old.
“Van de Ven impressed me more than anyone because not only did he come in and show how good he is, he is fast and strong and can read the game well,”
Ambrose said on talkSPORT. Romero seems like a different player because now he has a partner next to him who is at the same level as him, who trusts him and they have built that partnership.
