Reports of Liverpool’s transfer for the $26 million winger were linked to the Bayern Klopp challenge

Liverpool transfer news: Liverpool have been linked with a move for a PSV winger who is receiving rave reviews as the Reds face a potential challenge from Bayern Munich.

Club football is in the shadows as the latest international turning point approaches.

Liverpool have started the season quite well in the Premier League, sitting in fourth place after their first eight games and just three points behind Tottenham.

Jürgen Klopp will no doubt be pleased with what he saw in the opening months of the season, especially when compared to the horrors of last season.

Of course it’s still very early, but the signs are clear that Liverpool will be a force again this season.

One thing that never stops – international break or not – is the transfer market.

Even though there are still two and a half months left until the winter window opens, that doesn’t mean Liverpool won’t remain tied to a host of players, some realistic, some less so.

Football is mostly about the present, but often also about the future, the search for the next great talent or the improvement of a specific part of the pitch.

Liverpool and Klopp will no doubt be wondering who they can sign to strengthen the squad next summer.

Here’s Liverpool.com’s take on the transfer gossip surrounding the Reds today. Johan Bakayoko (PSV Eindhoven)

Liverpool have virtually no need for attacking talent anymore but are linked with Johan Bakayoko, who is an Eredivisie sensation with PSV Eindhoven.

According to Spanish website Fichajes, Bakayoko’s price has been set at a very reasonable $26 million (£21 million/€26 million).

Bakayoko, 20, scored seven goals for PSV last season. In the 2023/24 season, he managed to score one goal in eight league matches.

Liverpool have enjoyed an excellent relationship with PSV since the signing of Cody Gakpo at the end of last year and that would no doubt help in future negotiations.

Bakayoko is a Belgian international and has played four matches for his country so far.

Liverpool.com says: ‘It is highly doubtful that Jurgen Klopp will want to sign another striker given the wealth of options available to him at the moment.

However, this does not mean that his team cannot keep an eye on promising people all over the world. Bakayoko could be one for the future, but certainly not for the here and now.
Manu Koné (Borussia Mönchengladbach)

This is not the first time that Liverpool is connected to French.

Koné is considered above in Klopp’s wishes list, but according to the German group Bild, Bayern Munich is now interested in signing Koné.

With the Reds that Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch signed last summer, another midfielder is not necessarily the upper part of Klopp’s priorities.

Bayern had a start of stuttering for the season, despite Harry Kane’s signature.

Bayern is affected by injuries and is currently in third place in the Bundesliga, two points behind the leaders of the Bayer Leverkusen League.

This is not good enough for a bayern domain club in Germany. Bild reports that Bayern has made contact with Koné’s entourage on a future step.
Liverpool.com says:

Liverpool will not be on the market for another midfielder, unless the injuries have been affected, something that has happened in the recent past. Koné could be high on Klopp’s list, but a move doesn’t seem likely.
