James Milner has praised former Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino, suggesting many never realized how incredible the striker was.
Milner was speaking on the Premier League YouTube channel and was asked to name the player he played the most games with throughout his career.Roberto Firmino was the answer.
The Brazilian has had an incredible time at Anfield, scoring 111 goals and contributing 79 assists in 362 games in all competitions for the Reds.
The 32-year-old has won virtually everything in Jürgen Klopp’s side, including the Premier League and Champions League. And he played more than his share alongside Mo Salah and Sadio Mane in one of the greatest attacking line-ups the Premier League has ever seen.
James Milner praises Roberto Firmino James Milner guessed that Firmino was the teammate he had played the most games with in his career so far.
And he went on to explain that Firmino probably doesn’t get all the credit for his quality. As a guy, super relaxed, super nice. I just nodded and smiled.
I think it was because he understood my accent sometimes. But he never questioned it when he didn’t understand it.
But it’s great to have a guy here,” he told the Premier League YouTube channel.MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES“As a player who possesses the ball, receives it in tight spaces and has incredible feel for the ball in tight spaces.
He scored big goals. Incredible even without the ball. We won the ball back so many times. I would start the press and work so hard.
I think he’s one of those players that unless you watch him or play with him every week, you don’t realize how good he is. It’s incredible.
Liverpool did well to rebuild their attack .This summer seemed like the right time for Liverpool and Firmino to go their separate ways.
He began to approach the periphery of the team, while Klopp had put together a new striker.Obviously Salah is still there and still having a devastating impact in the Premier League.
But now he has been joined by the likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota.
Firmino, meanwhile, became one of the Liverpool players to leave Merseyside for Saudi Arabia in the summer. He marked his Saudi Pro League debut with Al Ahli by scoring a hat-trick.
Since then he has not scored for the team again. It seems that Liverpool were right to abandon the famous striker.
They didn’t come out to sign replacements. Instead they brought in players who bring different qualities to the table.
Judging by Milner’s comments, an attempt to replace Firmino would have been virtually impossible anyway.
