Expert believes Spurs player took Harry Kane’s departure personally after certain comments

Darren Bent believes Son Heung-min was desperate to prove his point following comments about Tottenham’s chances following Harry Kane’s departure this season.

When Tottenham’s top scorer joined Bayern Munich in the summer, some pundits understandably wondered where the Lily  whites goals would come from this season and completely ruled them out of the race for European qualification.

In fact, Paul Merson (Sky Sports) and Gabby Agbonlahor (Football Insider) have even suggested that Spurs will struggle to finish in the top half of the table this season. However, after eight matches of the campaign,

Angle Postecoglou’s men sit top of the table with 20 points, having won six and drawn two.Heung-min  son took Harry Kane’s chatter personally Son has performed well in front of goal and has put the ball in the net six times so far.

Bent believes Kane’s departure has benefited the South Korean. The expert told Premier League Productions (07/10/23 at 12:15 p.m.) about the Tottenham captain:

“He was fantastic. It’s almost a blessing that Kane is leaving.“He had a bit of a slow start playing from the left. But since switching to centre-forward in the first game against Burnley, he hasn’t looked back.

A really intelligent footballer.“When chaos moves towards the goal. He always holds back a little. Give yourself space. He finds that space in the box and then, as we know, he’s a very, very good finisher.

One of his greatest strengths is that he can finish with both feet. When it is in full flow, no one can take it.”He’s someone they switched to as centre-forward when Kane left and went ‘you know what’. I can score the goals and he’s been absolutely brilliant this season.I almost feel like he was personally conceived.

“When everyone thought: ‘How will they continue without Harry Kane? They’ll probably finish the bottom half.” He said: “No, I can take this club forward” and he does.

In the past, Son always helped out when Kane was injured. So there would certainly have been a part of him that would have welcomed the opportunity to be the main man at the club after the England captain left.
