Liverpool have resisted any temptation to sell Salah for a huge price this summer. Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad were willing to pay up to £200 million for the Egyptian winger.
Liverpool had no time to replace Salah and remained steadfast in their stance that he was not for sale at any price.
But Saudi leaders are likely to test the Reds’ resolve again in the January transfer window.
However, Parlor claims Liverpool will look to delay Salah until at least the end of the season. He compared it to Ronaldo’s situation at United fifteen years ago.
Man Utd convinced Cristiano Ronaldo to stay in 2008
Real Madrid wanted to sign Ronaldo in the summer of 2008, but Ferguson convinced him to stay for another season, with a gentlemen’s agreement that he could leave within 12 months.
Ronaldo won the Premier League and League Cup that season, with United also reaching the Champions League final but losing to Barcelona.
Parlor has said the offer for Salah in the summer is not suitable for Liverpool and says that will be the case if he is well positioned in the Premier League in January. He told Mighty Tips:
“The way the deal was presented didn’t suit Liverpool because they would have had to replace him very quickly.
“The window was about to close and you lose a guy who can score you 20 to 25 goals a season, but I think he will come back. The Saudis seem to be in the game for the long term.” .
“They want the best players, they want the stars of the Premier League and they also offer a lot of money.
From Liverpool’s point of view, they can plan a little better, they can plan for next summer or January, but if they also give him the he did.’ Whether he goes or not will depend on how Liverpool perform, I guess.
