NEWS UPDATES : Suns list boss provides update on Carlton target…..

Gold Coast Suns list manager Craig Cameron has shared an update on in-demand pair Mabior Chol and Elijah Hollands following discussions with both players potentially being traded to the clubs set of opponents.

With Damien Hardwick announced as the new coach of the Gold Coast Suns, the club is working hard to field the best squad in the hope Hardwick can lead the young side to their first ever AFL grand final appearance.

Former Chol Tiger has not been able to receive many opportunities at a senior level this season compared to his first year with the Suns, playing only eight games in 2023. Although he did not make the first team, Chol played a key role in the Suns’ VFL success with their final win over Werribee in September.

Cameron spoke on AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday, offering his transparency to players by saying that if they want to test the market, they have plenty of freedom to do so. “Mabior came to us two years ago, he was really good in his first year, but he’s had less opportunities this year and the feeling is how the forward line will be structured with Ben King now and the success of Jake Lukosius.” in” Cameron said.

“We had a conversation between Mabior and his management, and during that conversation we told him that if he was interested, he could consider continuing his career is elsewhere and we’ll be open to that. At this point, he won’t be.” Not wanting to be archived, we were open to it and he was open to it, that’s the process that’s going on right now.

“We don’t have any offers for him at the moment.”

The situation surrounding the seventh pick of the 2020 draft in Hollands, who has been linked with Carlton, is similar, with Cameron again giving him the chance to explore his options.

Cameron also talked about how getting future picks if they trade him would be beneficial for new Academy players. “We don’t have anything concrete yet,” Cameron said. Again, we had an open conversation with Elijah and told him that if he wanted to explore, we were open to that.”

“I think so (by getting future picks via trade) we can use pick four in a way that allows us to get enough points for this year. With any player that We can trade, if we can get a guarantee in the future, that will be good.”

A number of clubs, including Richmond, are said to be chasing the Sun’s first Pick 4 selection after reports suggested the Gold Coast were ready to use him as a trade asset.
