NEWS FLASH: Tottenham have a transfer for a replacement for Harry Kane

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou wants to strengthen his forward line in January, but he has competition from AC Milan.

Tottenham are in risk of having their January transfer for Jonathan David ‘hijacked’ by AC Milan. Ange Postecoglou has sought the Canadian striker as a replacement for Harry Kane, who joined Bayern Munich in the summer.

Lille striker David scored 24 goals in Ligue 1 last season and has four goals this season in all competitions. According to Give Me Sport, the Canadian international is eager to join the Premier League.

David might be sold in January to ensure that he does not go for free when his current deal expires in June 2025. The French club paid £25.9 million for David from Gent in 2020 and are said to be open to’reasonable’ proposals.

Lille is thought to seek roughly £55 million for its top striker, and Spurs might become engaged in a January bidding war. According to Football Italia, AC Milan is interested and might hijack a prospective Spurs move.

According to Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo, Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani is ‘hoping to take advantage of the good relationship’ with Lille in order to compete for the Canadian striker. Spurs may have the financial advantage after paying £85.5 million for Kane while Bayern Munich swooped in for their target man.

According to previous reports, Tottenham has already approached Lille about a possible move and is ‘exploring a deal’ for the Canadian, without having made an official offer. Despite losing Kane in the summer, Spurs have started the season strong, scoring 17 goals in seven Premier League games.

Only Erling Haaland has scored more Premier League goals than Son Heung-Min, who has filled the vacuum left by England international Kane. Spurs have also been linked with signing Feyenoord’s young Mexican forward Santiago Gimenez.

According to Dutch outlet Voetbal4U, Feyenoord seek a club-record fee of between £34.7m and £43.3m for Gimenez. The 22-year-old has drawn interest from all over Europe after netting 32 goals in 52 outings for Cruz Azul since signing in July last year.
