Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on Juventus defender Gleison Bremer as a January transfer target, according to Fichajes.
Tottenham are undoubtedly lacking in central defense, with Eric Dier the only veteran centre-back Ange Postecoglou could call to if either Crisitan Romero or Micky van de Ven are injured.
As a result, it is not surprising that Fichajes is now claiming that the Premier League club would prioritize purchasing a top central defender when the transfer window reopens.
Tottenham are willing to move for Bremer in January
The report states that the Lilywhites want to acquire Bremer’s services in January and are willing to spend more than €40m (£34.7m) on the Brazilian.
The outlet explains that even though the 26-year-old has been a mainstay of Massimiliano Allegris backline and has emerged as one of the leaders at Juve, he could be tempted by the opportunity to ‘try his luck in the Premier League’.
However, Fichajes add that Spurs are not the only English side to be eyeing Bremer, with the defender also said to be on the radars of some of their rivals.
It is suggested that although Tottenham want to ‘close’ the deal ‘as soon as possible’, the former Torino’s star price could shoot up if a bidding war ensues.
There is absolutely no chance that Juve would be willing to sell Bremer for as low a fee as £35m. With the centre-back being contracted until 2027 at the Allianz Stadium, he is likely to cost a minimum of £50m in January, and potentially a lot more if other Premier League sides enter the race.
