Liverpool seal deal for Mo Salah’s successor, worth seven times what he was worth 18 months ago

Liverpool have signed Mohamed Salah’s potential successor, Ben Doak, to a new contract.

On Wednesday, the Reds confirmed via their website that the 17-year-old had put pen to paper on a new contract on Merseyside after impressing in the club’s youth ranks.

He is seen by some as a potential long-term replacement for Salah should he continue to progress and improve.

The teenager made a serious impression for Scotland during the international break in their 2025 U21 European Championship qualifier against Spain, showcasing his quick pace and quick feet.

And that has seen his price increase by more than seven times his value 18 months ago after Liverpool signed him from Celtic for around £600,000 in March 2022.

According to the CIES Observatory, Doak is now worth €5m (£4.3m), just over seven times what Jurgen Klopp paid for him.

The German’s admiration for Doak is well documented after signing him as a replacement for Salah in the Reds’ opening match against Chelsea.

During Liverpool’s pre-season, Klopp praised Doak, saying: “We saw how good the kids were.” James has never played six before and today he played there and it was honestly very enjoyable to watch.
