Liverpool have released the ten most popular names that will be printed on replica shirts in the new season and Mohamed Salah is no longer top of the list
Mohamed Salah has lost the top spot as the most popular name on the back of Liverpool shirts.
The Egyptian striker has started the new season in typically productive fashion, scoring six goals in his first five games of the season.
Many fans would have been relieved to see the club reject Al-Ittihad’s £150m bid for Salah, regardless of the name printed on their new Liverpool shirt.
According to data from LFC Retail, Salah has been the club’s most popular player over the last two seasons.
However, one of the Reds’ new summer signings has taken his crown. Liverpool said Dominik Szoboszlai made an electric start at Anfield and his number eight shirt was most popular with fans between May 29 and September 10, relegating Salah to second place.
The number 10 jersey of new recruit Alexis Mac Allister completes the top three.
Further down the list, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez make up the top five, followed by Luis Diaz.
First-team regulars Alisson, new captain Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson complete the top 10.
The departure of some popular figures like Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino provided an opportunity for some players to move up the rankings.
However, there are still some notable omissions, with Thiago Alacantra, Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott all featuring in last season’s top 10.
