Monday Night Football analysts Jamie Carragher and Thomas Frank say Burnley’s disallowed winner at Nottingham Forest was an “extremely harsh” decision by VAR.
Vincent Kompany’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Forest after Lyle Foster’s late goal was disallowed by the video assistant referee for a handball.
Replays showed the ball grazing the arm of Burnley’s Sander Berge moments before he placed it for Foster to intervene.
In subsequent analysis on Sky Sports, Carragher and Frank insisted the goal should have stood and Burnley should feel “hit hard”.
“If we look at the frames we can see he touches the ball a bit but I think it’s very hard,” Brentford boss Frank said.

“And what about the clear and obvious point where they said they would intervene? What if that was a defender? Would it be a fine? They have to use their common sense. They don’t use common sense.’
“I’m with Thomas,” Carragher added. «I find it extremely intense. I think that should be a goal.
“I think he’s running initially, so his arms are outstretched and he’s trying to get there, and then he sees the defender running at him.
“The arm may deviate slightly from its running action, but then the defender also gets closer, so the left arm would normally go up anyway.
“It’s a very small touch, but to say that he did it on purpose with his hand… He didn’t change direction. I think they might feel a little offended.”
Elsewhere in the match, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored his first goal for the club after a stunning shot canceled out Zeki Amdouni’s earlier goal.
The result saw Burnley take their first point of the Premier League season after suffering defeat in their previous matches this evening.
