Your morning Liverpool headlines for Monday September 11th.
Germany ‘dreams’ of appointing Jürgen Klopp after Hansi Flick was sacked
Germany is “dreaming” of appointing Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp as national team coach after Hansi Flick’s disastrous reign came to an end following a shock 4-1 defeat to Japan.
The 2018 world champions suffered a defeat on Saturday night at the Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg, with Leroy Sane’s goal failing to spark the Germans into a comeback shortly after Junya Ito had given Japan the lead.
Other goals from Ayase Ueda, Takuma Asano and Ao Tanaka sealed an incredible friendly win for the Samurai Blue.
On Sunday, less than 24 hours after the defeat, it was confirmed that Flick, who was only named Joachim Löw’s successor after Euro 2021, had been dismissed.
