Everton could enter their new era with several exciting signings this summer, with Sheffield United star Gustavo Hamer high on the list.
David Moyes is aiming to strengthen his squad after an impressive return to Merseyside midway through the season, and more attacking firepower is desired.
Everton struck gold when they signed Iliman Ndiaye last summer, and they will hope to keep Carlos Alcaraz after his impressive loan spell.
Another creative option could arrive as Hamer is set to leave Sheffield United after their failed promotion push, and he could become a high-profile signing to open the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton make Hamer approach
Everton have now made an enquiry for Hamer, who was the Championship Player of the Season after an outstanding individual campaign.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The 27-year-old helped Sheffield United push close for an automatic promotion spot, before narrowly missing out and losing the Championship play-off final to Sunderland.
Their failure to reach the top flight means Hamer will now likely depart Bramall Lane, and several clubs are interested, alongside Everton.
Ben Jacobs has reported that Leeds United are also keen on the Brazilian-born playmaker, with the Toffees making the first move already, it seems.

An official bid is yet to be made, but it appears likely that he will move on, and his situation is one to watch this summer.

Hamer could bring flair to Everton
Hamer was a game-changing presence in the Sheffield United side, contributing 18 goals and assists from midfield and the left-hand side.
This included several outstanding free kicks, as well as crucial game-changing goals, as a player who carried the Blades frequently in the promotion race.
The Brazilian-born Dutchman would add a lot of creativity to this Everton side, and would be a different profile to Abdoulaye Doucoure if he was to play centrally.
If Hamer is to play alongside Ndiaye and Alcaraz, Everton fans would be excited at the prospect of a team filled with creative flair players, with Moyes building something that hasn’t been seen since Carlo Ancelotti was in town.
