Richard Keys was at Goodison Park on Sunday as Everton played their final Premier League game at the Grand Old Lady.
David Moyes’ team beat Southampton 2-0 on 18 May, as Iliman Ndiaye scored a brace in the men’s team’s last-ever fixture at the historic stadium.
The Toffees will have a new home in L5 next season, with Bramley-Moore Dock securing the Hill Dickinson partnership.
Goodison Park had a grand farewell after the win over the Saints, and Keys was pleased with his experience.
Everton put on memorable Goodison Park farewell
Goodison Park’s farewell by the Merseyside outfit was memorable, Keys says.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The beIN Sports broadcaster thanked Evertonians for making the day unforgettable and lauded the Toffees for putting on a great show.
Keys also got emotional as the Grand Old Lady ended its 133-year tradition of being the men’s team’s home.
The veteran journalist wrote in his blog (19 May): “First things first. A big thank you to everybody in Liverpool who made my trip to Goodison on Saturday so enjoyable. Enjoyable? Perhaps that’s not the right word. I can’t think of one that is, though.
“It’s a day I’ll never forget, that’s for sure. Yeah, actually, it was enjoyable, but it was also tinged with sadness. It’s not my club, but even I had a lump in my throat as they played Z-cars for the last time. That was special.
“Top marks to the club and everybody who worked so hard to make it such a good day for everybody lucky enough to be there. It was pitched perfectly.”

Friedkins to star new era at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Dan Friedkin’s takeover from Farhad Moshiri has come as a welcome respite for the supporters.
The American owners quickly replaced Sean Dyche with Moyes, which was an astute decision.
With the Scottish manager turning the tide at Goodison Park upon his return, fans have renewed hope for the Blues’ prospects next season.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) can turn Everton into a force to be reckoned with if they make some diligent investment in the squad next summer.
Ashley Young, Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic’s exits were confirmed on Monday (19 May), and now Abdoulaye Doucoure has also bid farewell at Goodison Park.
TFG have a massive transfer window coming up to build a reliable squad capable of competing for domestic silverware under the Scottish manager.
The 62-year-old head coach won the Conference League title with West Ham United, and there’s no reason he can’t bring similar success to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
