David Moyes ready to trigger multi-million Everton transfer clause after Alcaraz developments

David Moyes is ready to get to work in the summer transfer window and put his stamp on his Everton side.

The boss has rejuvenated the Blues since his return to Goodison Park, but after the season concludes, a new era is ready to get properly underway on Merseyside.

The Friedkin Group are expected to show Moyes financial support, in their first proper transfer window since becoming owners, in the hope of pushing the Toffees up the table next term.

It’s not just about new faces to make the move to Bramley-Moore Dock, though, with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz’s situation to be resolved too.

Alcaraz set to seal Everton transfer

Although Everton wanted to strengthen their side during the winter transfer window, it wasn’t the busiest of periods with financial restrictions still at large.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

One man who did make the move to Goodison is Alcaraz, on a loan deal from Flamengo with an option to buy at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has had a fairly big role to play under Moyes, having made 14 Premier League appearances in the second half of the season.

However, for the buy clause to be triggered, Alcaraz would have to make nine Premier League starts, and so far he has just six.

Therefore, with two games left to be played, the midfielder is not going to reach the threshold, leaving Moyes with a decision to make.

It’s looking like good news for the Argentinian, though, as Sebastien Vidal reported via X (14 May), that the Toffees manager is “impressed” and could trigger the option to buy soon.

If the Blues trigger the option, they will be required to pay £12million to earn his services permanently.

It is said that a decision is getting closer, but after he was involved in all three goals in the 3-1 win against Fulham on Saturday (10 May), the case for a permanent transfer has been strengthened.

Alcaraz part of new Everton era

Alcaraz has done well with Everton, and with his contributions in front of goal starting to increase, it’s no surprise that Moyes is seemingly impressed.

At 22-years-old, the midfielder certainly fits the profile of a younger, refreshed option that the Scotsman is looking to add to his Everton side moving forward.
