Neal Maupay has endured another trying campaign in front of goal during his season-long loan away from Everton with Olympique Marseille.
The striker has notched just four goals while on loan from the Toffees, with the French club poised to finish runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.
With the season reaching its finale, the 28-year-old’s future hangs in the balance, although his immediate fate is certain.

Maupay on the move again this summer
Maupay joined Everton from Brighton for a fee of £15million in the summer of 2022.
During his first season at Goodison Park, the Frenchman managed just one goal in the Premier League before being loaned out to Brentford the following campaign.

This term, the forward has been reunited with former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, but he has been unable to get the best out of the misfiring striker.
Maupay has benefited from 13 starts but has had to settle for a place on the bench as the campaign has progressed.

However, Marseille must sign Maupay permanently for £3.3million when his loan deal expires, according to Jeunesfooteux.
The report states that the former European champions already want rid of the 28-year-old after he signs, rather than burdening themselves with a player with limited returns.

Everton must invest in new striker
David Moyes is poised for his first full transfer window since taking over as Toffees manager in January.
The forward area is one that the Scot must address if the Goodison club are to improve on their 2024/25 campaign.
Several strikers are expected to leave, with Wolves eyeing Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of his contract expiration in June.
Beto is attracting interest from Leeds United ahead of their return to the Premier League and are willing to pay £30million to secure a new front man.
Moyes is keen on adding Liam Delap to his ranks, but will face a sizeable battle to attract one of the in-demand players.
While Everton must sign a goalscoring striker, their decision to sell Maupay means they have one less concern to worry about.
