The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has recently welcomed a new talent to its ranks: Ida Zetterström, a distinguished figure in European drag racing. Zetterström, who clinched the 2023 European championship and set multiple records, has transitioned to the NHRA’s Top Fuel category in the United States. She made her NHRA debut in August 2024, joining mid-season, which precludes her from competing for the championship this year. However, her participation has been met with enthusiasm from fans, with autograph lines second only to those for NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Tony Stewart.

Zetterström’s journey into drag racing began in her youth, influenced by her family’s involvement in motorsports. She has broken gender barriers in European motorcycle racing, inspiring other women in the sport. In the NHRA, she aims not just to compete but to win races and championships, reflecting her commitment to excellence. Looking ahead, Zetterström has expressed interest in potentially transitioning to Funny Cars, although she remains deeply committed to her current endeavors in Top Fuel racing.

The NHRA community anticipates that Zetterström’s presence will add a new level of excitement and competition to the series, given her impressive track record and dedication to the sport.
