Cowboys Options For In-House Replacement Of Their Superstar

Last year, the Dallas Cowboys faced the challenge of replacing two starting offensive linemen, turning to the NFL Draft to fill the gaps. Relying on two rookie starters in 2024, however, proved difficult, as the team struggled to establish a strong running game during their 7-10 season. Now, with future Hall of Famer Zack Martin announcing his retirement, Dallas must find a new right guard after his 11-year tenure at the position.

The key question for new head coach Brian Schottenheimer is whether to address the need through the draft or free agency. With the 12th overall pick, the Cowboys could select Martin’s successor, similar to their approach with Cooper Beebe and Tyler Guyton. If they opt for a veteran replacement, former Detroit Lions starter Kevin Zeitler could be a potential target. However, with 13 seasons under his belt, concerns remain about how much he has left in the tank.
