David Moyes makes new Sean Dyche admission as Everton plans shared

David Moyes has credited Sean Dyche for the work he did with Everton in the first half of the season.

Dyche’s side struggled this term and with the Toffees sitting just one point above relegation at the time, The Friedkin Group made the decision to part ways with the boss at the start of 2025 before replacing him with Moyes.

Since the Scotsman has returned to Goodison Park, things have looked more positive on Merseyside and with three wins from four games, the Blues have moved six points clear of the relegation zone.

However, speaking to beIN Sports (5 February), Moyes was keen to praise his predecessor as he said: “Dychey’s left a really good team – well-drilled, organised. Hopefully, I can retain that and see if I can add in a layer or two more.

“We have to try and get over this hurdle the best we can. By hook and by crook, we need to do that.

“I don’t care how we win the games, but the players are doing a good job. They’re playing well, they’ve passed the ball well and created more chances than we did earlier in the season.”

David Moyes the man to save Everton

Given the Toffees were sitting so close to the relegation zone under their previous boss, it wasn’t a surprise to see TFG decide that a change had to be made.

However, over the past number of years, Dyche certainly oversaw some difficult times at Goodison Park which resulted in some supporters feeling grateful for his service.

The appointment of Moyes certainly seemed to give the fans a boost and that has been replicated on the pitch as well with plenty of players looking like they have upped their standards.

As the current manager says though, there is credit to be given to Dyche given the Blues have been defensively solid throughout the season and that is something that hasn’t collapsed since his departure.

However, the key now is for Moyes to carry on developing their game at the top end of the pitch to ensure the Toffees do enough to save themselves from relegation this term.
