Flames Post-Game: Flames Lose Their First Game of the Season in Seattle…..

The Calgary Flames suffered their first defeat of the 2024-2025 NHL season, falling 4-2 to the Seattle Kraken in a highly competitive matchup at Climate Pledge Arena. Despite a strong start to the season, the Flames found themselves outplayed in key moments as Seattle took control of the game.

Seattle’s aggressive forechecking and precise puck movement proved to be too much for Calgary to handle. Kraken forward Matty Beniers led the charge with a goal and an assist, while Jared McCann and Vince Dunn also found the back of the net for the home team.

Flames’ new head coach Ryan Huska emphasized the need to clean up their defensive lapses. “We didn’t execute the way we needed to, especially in our zone,” Huska said post-game. “Seattle’s pressure disrupted our rhythm, and we’ve got to be better defensively.”

Calgary’s offense struggled to capitalize on chances, with only Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri managing to score for the Flames. Goaltender Jacob Markström made several critical saves, but the Kraken’s relentless attack broke through, especially in the second and third periods.
