Giants Officially Extend Mike Krukow’s Contract for Two Years with Remote Broadcasting Twist

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Longtime Giants color commentator Mike Krukow has signed a two-year contract extension, ensuring the iconic “Kruk and Kuip” broadcast duo will continue through at least the 2026 season. However, this time there’s a significant change: Krukow will no longer travel for road games. Instead, he’ll join play-by-play partner Duane Kuiper remotely for 22 National League West road games from NBC Sports Bay Area’s studios in San Francisco.
This “SplitKast” will debut when the Giants open their season against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on March 26. Krukow, who has been battling inclusion-body myositis, a progressive muscle disorder, expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “I don’t want to have to quit. To me, this was a gift. I’m ecstatic about it,” he said.
Krukow previously limited his travel to Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix but will now work remotely for all road games, except for those at Oracle Park. The new broadcasting setup will include a live feed of the game and various camera angles to simulate an authentic game-day experience.
Krukow’s condition, which has affected his mobility, led to this adjustment, but the Giants legend is determined to stay in the booth as long as possible. His service dog, Patriot, helps him navigate Oracle Park, where he’ll continue to call home games.
The deal underscores the Giants’ commitment to maintaining the beloved “Kruk and Kuip” team, preserving a partnership cherished by fans.
