Winnipeg Jets place Jaret Anderson-Dolan on waivers as they move towards roster compliance
Jets Make Unexpected Waiver Move: Jaret Anderson-Dolan Assigned to the Moose
In a somewhat surprising move, the Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan on waivers with the intent of assigning him to the Manitoba Moose, according to Elliotte Friedman. The expectation for the day was that the Jets would waive one of their netminders, but the organization chose a different route.
According to PuckPedia, today’s move was necessary due to the 5 p.m. deadline for opening roster submission tomorrow. Players who require waivers must clear them in time to be assigned to the AHL, which explains Anderson-Dolan’s placement on waivers.
Many expected either Eric Comrie or Kappo Kahkonen to be waived in favor of trimming down the goalie group. However, Winnipeg seems to be holding onto three netminders for now, keeping both in the mix.
This latest move leaves the Jets with 28 players on their roster. With Ville Heinola and Logan Stanley set to begin the season on injured reserve, the team has only three more cuts to make before finalizing their 23-man roster. Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov, and Elias Salomonsson, all waiver-exempt, are the most likely candidates to be sent down to the AHL in the coming days.
