Josh Curran Reveals Intentions for Bulldogs After Contract Extension

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs forward Josh Curran has opened up about his ambitions for the club following the announcement of his contract extension. Curran, who initially joined from the New Zealand Warriors late in the off-season, has now extended his stay with the Bulldogs until the end of 2026, securing his place as a key player for the club.

Since his arrival, Curran has become an integral part of Cameron Ciraldo’s squad, playing a crucial role in the Bulldogs’ return to the finals for the first time in eight years. His strong performances throughout the season have earned him recognition as one of the club’s most valuable contributors.

“We are pleased Josh has extended his time with the Bulldogs,” Canterbury’s director of football, Phil Gould, said in a statement. “He has clearly played some of his best football this year and become an integral part of the team.”

Curran, a three-time Indigenous All-Star, expressed his excitement about the future with the club and his desire to continue contributing at a high level. Averaging 120 metres per game and completing 756 tackles across 24 appearances this season, the 24-year-old forward credited head coach Cameron Ciraldo for helping him rediscover his love for the game.

“I started loving my footy again under Ciro,” Curran said. “He had trust and belief in me, and that’s all I ever asked for. I want to repay that trust by giving my all to the Bulldogs and helping us achieve success.”

Curran also shared his admiration for the Bulldogs’ passionate fanbase, adding, “I didn’t realise how big and passionate the Bulldogs’ fanbase is when I joined the club. We say it all the time – you’re not just playing for the club; you’re also playing for the community.”

With his future secured, Curran is determined to help the Bulldogs continue their resurgence and push for more success in the seasons to come.
