In-Demand GWS Utility Free Agent Elects Preferred Club for 2025: AFL Trade News

In a significant development for the AFL trade period, GWS free agent Harry Perryman has reportedly chosen Collingwood as his preferred destination for the upcoming 2025 season. The 25-year-old midfielder, who is an unrestricted free agent, can make the move to the Magpies without any constraints from the Giants, who will receive compensation for his departure.

This decision comes amid a wave of senior talent leaving GWS, with notable players such as Nick Haynes and Isaac Cumming confirming their exits. Cumming has already announced his move to Adelaide, while Haynes is expected to join Carlton. The signing window for free agency opens this Friday, October 4, and will remain open for seven days.

Perryman garnered interest from multiple clubs during the season, with Port Adelaide, Hawthorn, and Essendon also vying for his services. However, according to AFL.com.au, Perryman’s choice of Collingwood represents a significant coup for head coach Craig McRae’s side.

The 2023 premiers will not need to provide any trade assets to secure Perryman’s signing, as his move will only impact their salary cap. The compensation for GWS will be determined based on the structure of Collingwood’s offer to Perryman.

Perryman’s addition may be the only recruitment for Collingwood this off-season, as the club focuses on retaining its key players. Speedster Joe Richards has an offer from Port Adelaide, while defender John Noble has requested a trade to Queensland, likely heading to the Gold Coast Suns.

With the free agency window set to open soon, the AFL landscape is poised for further changes as clubs finalize their rosters for the 2025 season.
